Nice to meet you, We are GeoFUN!

GeoFUN is a project built on the belief that geotechnical engineering can — and should! — be fun, interactive, and inspiring.

We turn technical concepts into hands-on experiences, games, challenges, and plenty of scientific curiosity.

Born during the pandemic, we’ve grown with the support of educators from all over Brazil — and today, we spread knowledge and innovation from north to south.

From a Bold Idea to a National Project

In 2019, our co-founder Dr Bruna Lopes developed the first geotechnical board game as part of her postgraduate studies at the University of Strathclyde in the UK. This first project planted the seed for what would become GeoFUN.

During the 2020 pandemic, the idea expanded with the collaboration of Dr Mariana Chrusciak (UFRR), and what began as a small initiative quickly grew — connecting creativity, technology, and active learning.

Today, with funding from CNPq Universal 2023 and the collaboration of over 12 educational institutions, GeoFUN is a network of educational innovation, breaking barriers and reimagining engineering education.

2019

Creation of the first geotechnical educational game at the University of Strathclyde.

2020

Launch of GeoFUN in Brazil, with games initially tested remotely.

2023

Selected in the CNPq Universal funding call for national expansion (process 407439/2023-4).

Developed, + interactive simulations and 3D physical models.
